Enjoying Concordia as a commuter student

As a commuter student, you can take advantage of all Concordia has to offer! A significant percentage of our student population lives off campus, so you’re in good company if you’re a commuter. We aim to make your experience in Mequon as convenient and helpful as possible – Concordia is your “home away from home”!

Eating on campus

Commuters can purchase a variety of meal plans and eat at the cafeteria, the Nest, the Coop, and the Landing. There are weekly and block meal plans created just for commuter students, and you can choose what fits your schedule best. If you don’t want a meal plan, you can still purchase food anytime with cash, debit, or credit.

Enjoy our beautiful campus

There are great places for students to socialize and hang out! Enjoy outdoor spaces such as the Chapel Courtyard, where students hang their hammocks in trees (You can borrow a hammock from the Student Success office for free!). Go to the President’s Courtyard and spend quiet time by the waterfall. Or take a walk down to Lake Michigan and rejuvenate in the fresh lake air.

Find your favorite study places

Check out various places to study on campus to find the spaces you like the best. Of course, our library is a great option, but spaces in the Patrick T. Ferry Pharmacy building, the Robert W. Plaster building, the Landing, and the Undercroft are also places you might want to try.

Chapel is for everyone

Whatever your class schedule may be, we encourage you to reserve 9:30 am as a special time to connect with other students in Chapel to praise and worship! Campus Ministry also offers a variety of Bible studies, activities, and service opportunities. Click here to learn more about worship on campus.

Campus Activities Board (CAB)

These activities are for all students, so check out any that sound interesting to you. There are many cherished traditions like the Dog Café, Bingo, and Welcome Back Weekend! You can attend most without an additional fee, except for big outings like going to a Brewers game or a theatre production. Some events have a limited number of tickets available, so stay tuned in to what’s going on. There is also a Commuter Appreciation Week each semester with daytime events specifically designed for you!

Get connected with student groups

There is a wide variety of student groups that you can participate in, so check out a few to see what you like. It’s a great way to meet new friends, while doing something you enjoy. There are groups related to specific majors, like Pre-Pharmacy or Pre-Med, and groups that enjoy activities like bowling or dodgeball. Look on the 91 app or website for details and contact people.

Mental wellness

Your overall wellness is of utmost importance to us, and we provide resources for you to help you stay well in mind, body, and spirit. All students have access to our on-campus Student Wellness, Health, and Counseling centers for any health needs you may have as a student at 91.

We also have a special place for you to relax and de-stress, and it is equipped with technology to help you monitor your stress levels. It is called Evelyn’s Place, named after a beloved former employee, and you can request 24/7 access here.

Sports on campus

Check out Intramural Sports

You don’t need to be an athlete on one of our sports teams to be active in sports on campus…there are various intramural sports options, from volleyball to basketball. Click here for details.

Cheer on the Falcons

All 91 students get in FREE to all home games, so stop on by to any Athletics games!

Stay active

Concordia has a fitness center available to all students, located in the upper level of our field house. Check the signage outside the room (FH 116) for open hours, depending on team usage. There are weights, treadmills, ellipticals and other exercise machines to help you stay fit. Also, all students may use the sand volleyball courts in the Regents Courtyard and the outdoor basketball court and tennis courts (depending on team usage).

Parking

Concordia has many parking lots that are conveniently located, saving you time on your commute to classes. All students are charged a parking fee if they have a vehicle on campus.

Printing available

Learn more about the printing options, rates, and location of printers on the 91 campus.

Lockers available

We offer commuter students free lockers to store jackets, books, backpacks, and miscellaneous items, so you don’t have to carry them around campus all day. Email OfficeofStudentSuccess@cuw.edu or stop by the Student Success office in Albrecht 107 (across from the bookstore).
